The ledger runs seventy-two pages deep, six columns to a page: Date, Item, Ref, In, Out, Balance. A balance carried down the column by hand is a balance you can check against the shelf in the time it takes to walk over and count.
Eight day-book pages follow, for the count itself: Date, Item, Counted, Variance. A variance written down the day it is found is a variance somebody can still explain. A variance discovered at year end is a guess.
Twenty-eight college-ruled notes pages round the ledger out. It does not set your reorder level or your valuation method. Those are decisions for your own stock policy, not rules printed on a page. The ledger gives you the running balance; the policy is yours.
