01ConsultationTell us what you need over WhatsApp. Whether it is one or two thousand, we listen first and talk about price afterwards.
02Visual mockupWe make a picture of the result before production starts. You see it first, revise it if you need to, and only then do we go on.
03Production & deliveryOnce it is approved, the artisans begin. We ship across Indonesia, and work has already gone to the UAE, Malaysia, Canada and Germany.

How we work
Why we sew rather than glue
A spine held together with glue alone will crack. Not if, but when — and after that the pages come away one by one.
We sew with waxed thread, through the fold of the paper, the way bookbinders have done for hundreds of years. The result opens flat on a table without being held down, and is still whole decades later.
Repair & conservation
Books that can no longer be opened
A mushaf — a bound copy of the Qur'an — handed down from a grandfather. A marriage book. A photograph album whose glue has yellowed and whose pages are falling out. We take it apart, clean it sheet by sheet, sew it again, then fit a new cover — or save the old one where that is still possible.

Mushaf repair, done with reverence
A mushaf whose binding has come away, whose pages are falling out, or whose paper has gone brittle with age is among the work that reaches our bench most often. The process is the same as for any other book — taken apart, cleaned sheet by sheet, sewn again — and Conservation-level work is done by our founder in person. One of them, the Mushaf Al-Huda, we filmed from the day it arrived to the day it was finished.
Materials
Genuine leather, paper that does not yellow
Vegetable-tanned cowhide and goatskin, whose colour only deepens after years of use. Acid-free paper, so your writing does not fade along with the page.

Artisan option
Woodburn by Belgi Al Huda
Belgi Al Huda is a pyrography artist from Bogor, recognised by the Provincial Government as an Ekraf Unggulan Jawa Barat — a leading creative-economy practitioner of West Java. The design is burned directly into the surface of the leather, not printed onto it.
Because it is done by hand, no two results are exactly alike. This is commissioned work, not mass production — so it takes longer to make and is costed separately.

The vocabulary of bookbinding
Full-Grain Leather/Kulit Full Grain- Full-grain leather is the highest grade of leather, taken directly from the topmost layer of the hide.
Entwined Comb Marble (Teknik Marbling)- Entwined Comb Marble is one of the most intricate and striking patterns in the art of paper marbling.
Bookbinder’S Gauges/Alat Ukur Penjilid Buku- Bookbinder’s gauges are a set of precision instruments that form the backbone of accuracy and consistency in the craft of binding.
Wax/Lilin (Dalam Konteks Book Binding)- Wax, in bookbinding and leatherwork, is a versatile substance drawn from a range of natural and synthetic sources.

Questions
The ones we are asked most
- What is the minimum order?
- There is no minimum. We will make a single one. The largest order we have finished was ten thousand books in three weeks, with a binding simplified for a quantity that size — so tell us the number and the date, and we will tell you what is reasonable.
- How long does it take?
- A single piece usually takes 3–7 working days; 50–200 pieces around 7 working days. If you are up against a date, say so first — there is usually a way.
- What materials are there?
- Genuine leather: full grain, pull up, vegtan, crazy horse, chrome tanned. There is premium PU as well. If you have your own material, we can use it.
- How does personalisation work?
- A name, initials, or a logo. The technique can be deboss, emboss, foil (gold, silver or rose gold), laser engraving, or screen printing.
- I have no design at all.
- That is not a problem, and it is the most common case. We help from nothing until you say ‘yes, that is what I want’. Only then do we produce it.
- Can you ship abroad?
- Yes. Work has already gone to the UAE, Malaysia, Canada and Germany.
Who does the work
Not an anonymous “team”
Hibrkraft began with one person binding a first book in 2011, and now has a structure whose members can be named. Ibrahim Anwar is the founder, and the highest-level conservation work is still done by hand there — more than a thousand books have passed across that bench, including consignments from ANRI and EFEO. Elsa Helmia Puteri leads the company as CEO. Aril holds production, Fachri holds operations. Nine people in all, at the core.
The workshop is in Bogor and can be visited by appointment — it is a place of work, not a shop. Get to know us
Scale
One book, or ten thousand
Our largest order so far is ten thousand books, finished in three weeks — with a binding deliberately made simpler for a quantity that size. The ones sewn by hand through the fold of the paper come in smaller numbers and take longer, and we will say up front which is realistic for your date.
What makes a quantity that size possible is not machinery but people. Nine at the core, plus a pool of fourteen other artisans who can be called in when orders pile up, and makers from the Kabekraf circle — the Creative Economy Committee of Bogor Regency, where our founder has held a seat since 2020. Large orders are not sent out to a factory; the number of hands is increased instead. Work has already been shipped to the UAE, Malaysia, Canada and Germany.
