Since 2011

Why bother

And why it is free with nothing to sign up for. We could have put those 200 template files behind an email form — that is how most places do it. We decided not to. Someone who needs dot grid paper to print tonight is not looking to subscribe to anything, and trading something useful for their email address turns a gift into a transaction. Just take the file.

Hibrkraft began with a simple disquiet: people had stopped writing by hand. Not because handwriting is bad, but because nothing was left that made anyone want to do it.

So we made the thing. The rest — the glossary, the writing, the paper templates, the classes — grew out of that.

The Backroom

Not finished yet

Some things we work on without a release date. We name them here so their status is plain: not yet orderable.

  • A limited-edition series — the run size set per release
  • Letters from the founder — occasional, unscheduled

The “Senja di Merbabu” collection was once on this list. Work on it stopped, so we removed it — a list full of plans that never happened is worse than a short one.

What is already running: Experience

Collaboration

We work leather, paper and thread. Bamboo, batik and calligraphy are done by others — artisans who genuinely command them, and whose names we print. The monogram alongside is painted by hand, not printed.

Aban of Sagala Tina Awi makes the bamboo pen bodies, shaped one at a time because every internode differs in diameter. The patterned cover cloth comes from Batik Handayani. The Hk monogram is hand-painted by Pak Munawir of Beladuarna, who spends his days on calligraphy panels measured in metres. We do not sell other people’s work as our own.

Off the shelf

Three things that fit no category at all

Not products, not services. Just three things that happened because people used the books.

Given as a mas kawinA leather journal handed over as part of the marriage gift. We did not design it for that, and we do not sell it that way — its owner decided the book deserved to stand there.
