Eight day-book pages open the log, ruled into four columns: Date, Part, Qty, Ref. A part drawn from the store and never written down leaves no way to tie it to the pump it went into six months later.

Sixty machine-log pages follow. Each one records hours run, pressure, temperature, vibration and the action taken, so a pump that starts running rough three weeks before it fails leaves a trail, provided somebody kept filling the columns in.

Twenty college-ruled notes pages sit at the back, for the fault that took longer to describe than a column allows. It does not print your lubrication interval or your vibration limit. Those come from the pump manufacturer or the maintenance plan you work to, and nobody can walk a printed book back to the press to fix a wrong figure. The columns just give you somewhere to write the number down.

What is inside

Day book
8pp
Four columns fixed, so a part drawn from the store is always traced back to the job.
Machine log
60pp
Ruled for hours run, pressure, temperature, vibration and the action taken, so two visits read the same way months apart.
Notes
20pp
College-ruled, for the fault that took longer to describe than the columns allow.
Reference
12pp
Reference pages at the back: conversions worked from definitions, emergency numbers checked against two sources before they were set in ink.

The film

Page by page

A vertical film from our own bench — this page contacts nobody's server to play it, and downloads nothing until you press play.

A vertical film, 52 seconds: the cover, the ruling page, then 5 reference pages. Synthesised ambient bed, no dialogue — captions in three languages.

Real pages

Five pages from the Pump Service Logbook laid out as cards: a four-column day-book page, a machine-log table, a college-ruled notes page, a conversion table, and the owner's page.
Five pages straight from the print file: the day-book columns, the machine-log table, the college-ruled notes page, a conversion table, and the owner's page at the front. The machine-log columns are the reason to buy this over a plain notebook: hours run, pressure, temperature, vibration and the action taken, in that order, every time.
Specification card for the Pump Service Logbook: day book, machine log, notes, and reference pages, 100 pages total, A5, five signatures of twenty.
8 day-book pages ruled into four columns: Date, Part, Qty, Ref, for what left the store and where it went. 60 machine-log pages follow, recording hours run, pressure, temperature, vibration and the action taken. 20 college-ruled notes pages close it out, 7.14 mm pitch, 24 lines to the page. 100 pages total, A5, five sewn signatures of twenty, spine 5.72 mm.

Questions

What are the day-book columns?

Date, Part, Qty, Ref.

What does the machine-log page record?

Hours run, pressure, temperature, vibration and the action taken.

How big is it?

A5, 100 pages, and 5.72 mm across the spine when closed.

Is it dated?

No. Start it the day the pump goes into service.

Does it tell me my lubrication interval or vibration limit?

No, and that is deliberate. Those come from the pump manufacturer or the maintenance plan you follow, and they differ by machine. Once a figure is set on the page it stays wrong if the manufacturer revises it, so the columns just give you somewhere to write the number down.

What ruling are the notes pages?

College ruling, twenty-four lines to the page, 9/32 inch pitch.

Nothing is denied to well-directed labour; nothing is to be obtained without it.
