The page carries no straight grid. Instead the rule runs in rings and spokes: concentric circles spaced 9.17 mm apart, crossed by lines radiating from the centre, eighteen rings to a page. A reading that has a direction and a distance sits on this ruling the way an ordinary point sits on graph paper, without you converting anything first.
It does not print degree marks around the outside or a compass rose in the corner. The rings mark distance from the centre. The spokes mark a bearing, but the angle itself still comes from your instrument, not from a printed scale. The geometry is drawn as vector lines, not a tiled bitmap, so a ring stays a ring at any zoom.
A protractor still does the measuring. The page only holds where the reading lands.
