The rule sits at 5.00 mm, thirty-four rows down the page, faint enough to disappear once a calculation is written over it. A title block runs across the top of every page. The margin on one side is drawn heavier than the rest, wide enough for a running note beside the working rather than squeezed into it.

Engineering computation paper earns its name from that heavier margin, not from anything printed on the field itself. It does not check an equation or flag a unit that doesn't cancel. It gives the working room to be shown in full, which is usually the part a torn-off scrap of paper skips.

The page holds the arithmetic. It does not do it.
