A spoken talk does not pause for you to catch up. The page here is split three ways before a word is spoken: a narrow column down the left for a cue, a wide field beside it for the note itself, and a strip across the foot left empty until the talk is over.

Rules sit 9.17 mm apart, eighteen sets to a page, wide enough to write a word in the cue column without it running into the note beside it. The pitch is set for that column, not for density. A tighter rule would fit more lines and leave no room to write a cue next to anything.

The summary strip stays blank unless somebody goes back and fills it in after the talk is finished. Most people who take the notes never quite get round to it.

The film

Page by page

A vertical film from our own bench — this page contacts nobody's server to play it, and downloads nothing until you press play.

A vertical film, 52 seconds: the cover, the ruling page, then 5 reference pages. Synthesised ambient bed, no dialogue — captions in three languages.

Real pages

Five pages from Sermon and Lecture Notes laid out as cards: a cue column and note page, a conversion table, an emergency page, a world map page, and the pen test page.
Five pages rendered straight from the print file: the three-part page, a conversion table, the emergency page, the world map, and the pen test leaf at the back. The summary strip is blank on every one of them until somebody goes back and writes in it.

Questions

How is the page laid out?

How wide is the rule?

When is the summary strip meant to be filled in?

After the talk, not during it. Nothing forces this; it is left blank if it is skipped.

No. Start it whenever the next talk is.

How big is it?

A5, 148 x 210 mm, 120 pages, 6.86 mm across the spine.
