Four columns run across the daybook pages: date, role and company, stage, next step. An application that goes quiet after the first email is not a mystery six weeks later, because the last known stage is sitting on the page instead of buried in an inbox search.
Twenty-four further pages hold the preparation behind a single application: research on the company, the questions asked at interview, what you would answer differently next time. Two pages set the kind of role being searched for, so later entries can be checked against it rather than drifting toward whatever came up first.
Whatever the daybook could not hold spills into seventeen ruled pages at the back. The book does not write an application or judge what you are worth to an employer. It only keeps the record straight while somebody else makes that decision.
