A market list written from memory in the car park is missing at least one thing by the time the trolley is half full. Fifty-two meal pages exist so the list gets written at the table first, against a plan for the week's actual meals rather than whatever comes to mind standing in an aisle.
Each page holds a week: what gets cooked, and beneath it, what has to be bought to cook it. Fifty-two of them cover a full year of weeks without ever printing a date on one, so a week skipped in June is exactly as usable picked up again in November.
A recipe worth keeping, a substitution that worked, a note about what one particular guest will not eat: eighteen ruled pages at the back hold whatever a meal page does not fit. The book holds no recipes of its own and gives no dietary guidance. It only holds the plan you already have.
