Eight millimetres separates one rule from the next, twenty-three lines down an A5 page. That is the whole specification: no dot, no box, no margin column, just a line to write against. It sits between the two named rulings on this shelf, finer than wide and coarser than college.
A pitch this size holds an ordinary hand without crowding it and without leaving so much air above the line that a page looks half-finished. It is drawn as vector geometry rather than a tiled image, so the rule holds its edge at any zoom and the file stays small enough to matter.
