The Most Important Page in Our Journal Is the Blank One
We could talk all day about the thickness of the leather, the strength of the stitching, or the elegance of a customised cover. But in the end all of that is only a frame. A house. Our work is not truly finished until yours begins. And this photograph from Garpu Somay (@garpu_somay) is the perfect proof of it.
They did not photograph the cover. They opened the journal and showed us what happens inside it. They showed us its soul.
And we stopped for a moment to admire it.
A Canvas That Does Not Betray You
Look at that drawing. The detail of it. There is precise geometric hatching, there is stippling that takes patience, there are organic patterns running free. All of it in one strange and captivating harmony. The character in a tie at the centre is like the conductor of an orchestra both chaotic and beautiful.
Work this intricate needs a canvas that can be trusted. Paper that will not betray the stroke of a pen. Paper that takes ink honestly, without bleeding or feathering. When we choose the paper for our journals, we think of artists like @garpu_somay. We imagine work like this being born on it.

From the Cover to the Soul
For a long time many testimonials have celebrated the cover. The leather. The personalisation. That is the outside. That is the armour protecting what is precious inside.
Today we see what is being protected. We see the idea. The work. An imagination poured out into line and form. It is a powerful reminder to us of why we do what we do.
Our task is not only to make a beautiful book. Our task is to make a home that is safe and worthy of your wildest ideas.
This journal now has two stories: the story of how it was made by our hands, and the story of the world created inside it by the hands of @garpu_somay. The second story, honestly, is far more interesting.
